Montgomery County Goes Purple and International Overdose Awareness Day is near!
Thursday September 1, for the 7TH ANNUAL I.O.A.D
The event on August 25, 2022 in Rockville has been postponed, due to a conflict with a newly scheduled political rally. At this point we are thinking of resetting the event for Thursday September 1.
No change for the event in Frederick MD on August 28, 2022 and the Commemorative Photo Display will still be up from August 26 through the end of September at both location and throughout some cities.
Here is the new flyer to download.
Wednesday, August 31, 2022 is International Overdose Awareness Day (www.OverdoseDay.com). This is a global event held every year to raise awareness of overdose and to reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges to overwhelming grief felt by families and friends remembering loved ones who have passed as a result of a drug overdose.
This year an Outdoor Commemorative Photo "They Are US” Displays honoring loved ones lost to substance use will be held in Montgomery County, Frederick County and other cities in Maryland.
Please feel free to submit a photograph of your loved one to be displayed on a weatherproofed banner outdoors in both counties. We request that you choose ANY photo of them that you would like to share! Can be a headshot photo or enjoying an activity. We just request that it is one of them individually with no other people in the photo. If you participated last year, your loved one will be included unless we hear otherwise.
How To Submit Photos for “THEY ARE US” Outdoor Display (at no cost to you). Please submit photos as soon as possible and preferably NO later than August 15, 2022
